During the psychedelic haze of the late '60s, the grimy, noisy and relentlessly bleak rock & roll of the Stooges was conspicuously out of time. Like the Velvet Underground, the Stooges revealed...

After playing in several local bands in Ann Arbor, Michigan, including the blues band the Prime Movers and the Iguanas, Iggy Pop (b. James Osterberg) formed the Stooges in 1967 after witnessing a Doors concert in Chicago. Adopting the name Iggy Stooge, he rounded up brothers Ron and Scott Asheton (guitar and drums, respectively) and bassist Dave Alexander, and the group debuted at a Halloween concert at the University of Michigan student union in 1967. For the next year, the group played the Midwest relentlessly, earning a reputation for their wild, primitive performances, which were largely reviled. In particular, Iggy gained attention for his bizarre on-stage behavior. Performing shirtless, he would smear steaks and peanut butter on his body, cut himself with glass and dive into the audience. The Stooges were infamous, not famous -- while they had a rabidly devoted core audience, even more people detested their shock tactics. Nevertheless, the group lucked into a major-label record contract in 1968 when an Elektra talent scout went to Detroit to see the MC5 and wound up signing their opening act, the Stooges, as well.

Produced by John Cale, the Stooges\' primitive eponymous debut was released in 1969, and while it generated some attention in the underground press, it barely sold any copies. As the band prepared to record their second album, every member sank deeper into substance abuse, and their excess eventually surfaced in their concerts, not only through Iggy\'s antics, but also in the fact that the band could barely keep a simple, two-chord riff afloat. Fun House, an atonal barrage of avant-noise, appeared in 1970 and, if it was even noticed, it earned generally negative reviews and sold even fewer copies than the debut. Following the release of Fun House, the Stooges essentially disintegrated, as Iggy sank into heroin addiction. At first, he did try to keep the Stooges afloat. Dave Alexander left the band and Ron Asheton moved to bass as James Williamson joined as guitarist, but this incarnation wasn\'t able to land a record deal, despite recording a handful of demos. For the next two years, the band was in limbo, as Iggy weaned himself off heroin and worked various odd jobs. Early in 1972, Pop happened to run into David Bowie, then at the height of his Ziggy Stardust popularity. Bowie made it his mission to resuscitate Iggy & the Stooges, as the band was now billed. With Bowie\'s help, the Stooges landed a management deal and a contract with Columbia, and he took control of the production of the group\'s third album, Raw Power.

Released in 1973 to surprisingly strong reviews, Raw Power had a weird, thin mix due to various technical problems. Although this would be the cause of much controversy later on -- many Stooges purists blamed Bowie for the brittle mix -- its razor-thin sound helped kickstart the punk revolution. At the time, however, Raw Power flopped, essentially bringing the Stooges\' career to a halt. Iggy stuck with Bowie, who helped him shake heroin and establish a solo career with the 1977 albums The Idiot and Lust for Life. The Ashetons formed New Order, which quickly fell apart, leaving Ron to join Destroy All Monsters. Toward the late \'70s, when Pop separated from Bowie, James Williamson began working with the vocalist, playing on a number of records and tours. By the mid-\'80s, a decade after the group\'s demise, the Stooges were hailed as one of the first punk rock bands, and there was legions of underground groups replicating their sound, as well as several others -- such as Sonic Youth and Mudhoney -- who expanded and updated that sound, making it one of the cornerstones of alternative rock. Meanwhile, the Stooges lived on in countless semi-legal releases and repackagings of live shows, demos and outtakes, all of which were consumed avidly by a still-devoted cult. Having trouble telling the difference between this and a garden-variety N810? Yeah, don't worry about it -- that's okay, and it's actually by design. We had an opportunity to tool around with Nokia's just-announced N810 WiMAX Edition today, and it stays very true to the original N810's formula, substituting a darker case and keyboard (both of which look very handsome, by the way), and physically, that's about it. The real magic happens deep within this thing's innards, where the addition of a WiMAX radio keeps things speedy when WiFi hotspots are out of reach and Bluetooth tethering to a 3G phone is too much of a hassle. The software necessary to support XOHM activation isn't complete yet, but Nokia's reps tell us that the process of signing up for WiMAX service will be seamless and entirely doable from the N810 itself -- no pesky phone calls or visits to a store necessary. They likened it to purchasing hotel internet service; there'll probably be hourly, daily, or continuous subscriptions available, making it possible to only shell out XOHM coin when the situation demands it. It works just like any other data connection on the device, too, so getting your wide-area broadband on is pretty much as painless as it could possibly be. Nokia N810-WiMAX Edition : CTIA Coverage

Below are some additional information of CTIA about the Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition:

1. It will run Diablo. Update for N810 and N800 coming.

2. The email client is now Modest.

3. There are no finalized rates/plans yet for XOHM (WiMAX).

4. Over-the-air update is now built-in.

5. Bulge at the back for better XOHM reception. I didn’t find the slight bulge to be an issue.

6. Price will be $475 and should be out 2Q.

7. No PIM planned yet.

8. No one will confirm if this if the “4 of 5.”

9. Connectivity has “Any Connection” option to switch automatically to WiMAX, WiFi, and Bluetooth. There is also an option for “WLAN and WiMAX.”

10. Navigation software gets an upgrade.

All links are back now…. Now you can install any application, of course unsigned, without any PC, certificate or signing process. Its really amazing. I have tested it on my N73. Please try it and give me your feedback about this procedure of installing unsigned hacks.

THANKS GO TO THE AUTHOR OF THIS HACK, FCA00000, WHO MADE THIS HACK POSSIBLE. THE AUTHOR SAYS THAT THIS PROCESS IS RISKY AND DONT TRY IT, but first try ROM patcher method or any other method and then try it. THIS WEBSITE DOESNT TAKE ANY TYPE OF RESPONSIBILITY.

PROCEDURE:
1. First of all install x-plorer , if you dont have already installed it.

2. If you have OS9.1 mobile, download this pack and if you have OS9.2 mobile, then download this pack.

What you need:
1) BiNPDA Security Manager
2) installserver.exe (attached)

Instructions:

a) Install BiNPDA Security Manager. This will allow you to turn off Platform Security so that you can access C:\Sys\.

c) Use a file browser (X-plore, FExplorer etc.) to navigate to C:\Sys\Bin\

If you have a dev cert, it would be better to install signed apps. Using this is dangerous because it enables all functions. If by accident you install an app with virus, your phone will be gone if you use this.

5. After these installations, the actual process starts now. First of all open x-plore.

6. While x-plore is still opened, press the menu button and open HelloCarbide.sis. (You must know how to multitask on S60 phone, if you dont know click here to learn more about it)

7. Run HelloCarbide press Options/ Menu1/ then press YES until it closes, and most probably you will see a “done” message.


8. Now switch to x-plore from task bar (keep pressed menu key for 3 seconds and you’ll be able to access x-plore). No other program will open until you restarts but dont restart till the process completes.

9. Now copy installserver.exe from memory card or phone memory to c:sys/bin/ using x-plore.

10. You need to restart your phone. You may see this message, START-UP FAILED, CONTACT YOUR RETAILER, ignore it and restart again.

11. Now you can install any unsigned application

Simple Hack Symbian With Patcher

I tested this method on my N73 but it also works on Nokia N95, N82, N81, N76, E90, E51, Nokia 6120 Classic, N80 etc. Thanks goes to him who discovered it. :)

You do This :

1. First of all Download connectivity Cable drivers of nokia pc suite version 6.85 need to be installed, nor 6.86 nor 6.84 on your PC. If you have other than PC suite version 6.85, then uninstall it and install these drivers.

2. Download ROMPatcher on your PC and extract it. There will be two main files in it as shown in the picture.


First open the No. 2 file and change address (and/or checkVal) in RPInstaller.ini. For Symbian 9.1 address is 60000148 and for 9.2 it is C0000148 and save this file.


3. Download the corresponding AppTRK .sisx file and Hack Perms for your phone on your desktop PC with the exclusion of AppTrk which needs to be installed on the S60 mobile device :
For New Nokias with S60v3 fp1 (Nokia N95, N82, N81, N76, E90, E51, Nokia 6120 Classic etc.), download this AppTRK.sisx and for older Nokias with S60v3 (like Nokia N73, N80, etc.), download this AppTRK.sisx

4. Install the AppTRK.sisx into phone memory and not in memory card.

5. Now make sure PC Suite v6.85 or drivers are installed on your computer (because you need its driver).

6. Connect your phone with PC with USB and run AppTRK from the phone.

7. Run AppTrk on mobile and in settings change connection mode to USB, by default it tries to useBluetooth, so it might give an error because no available ports.
Options--->Settings--->Connection=USB Options--->Settings--->Port=1 Options--->Settings--->Baud Rate=115200 Options--->Connect
You should now see:
Welcome to TRK for Symbian OS Status: Connected PDD: NONE LDD: EUSBC CSY: ECACM Port Number: 1 Baud rate: 115200. The picture shows a connected phone with PC suite.


8. Now you need to find Serial Port Number - On PC go to Control Panel/ System/ Hardware/ Device Manager/ Ports/ and you’ll see ‘Nokia Nxx’ USB (COM1 or 2 or 3 or ?) and remember it.

9. Now run ROMPatcher (No. 1 file as I told in step 2 there will be two files in the folder), enter the port number you found in step 8, and click “install.” Before performing this step make sure you have made changes as I told you in step 2.


10. Now go Application folder in phone and if you see ROMPatcher icon there, then you have successfully done all your work. You can disconnect your phone now from PC.


11. Now run ROMPatcher from mobile, go to options and disable caps to hack symbian and enable caps to turn off hack.


12. Verify the hack with X-Plore, see if you can explore c:/sys/

13. Now you can easily install any application on your phone using mobile signer. The whole procedure is same as I told you in this tutorial except that in First step you run ROMPatcher from mobile and disable Caps instead of running CapsOff.




There you go!! Now you can install all unsigned applications, and you dont need any certificate, any signing process or anything else. This will work on only on hacked phones. First you’ll have to hack the mobile and the procedure of hacking is described here. After you have hacked it successfully, then dont sign any application with “Mobile Signer” or “SignSis”. Just perform the following procedure and you can install any file without signing.


PROCEDURE:

1. For os9.1 mobile, download this file and place installserver.exe in C:/sys/bin and install any application.
2. For os9.2 mobiles, download this file and place installserver.exe in C:/sys/bin and install anything.

Nokia announce free Maps (smart2go) solution

Nokia has today announced that they will make their mapping and navigation solution (smart2go) available for free download. Initially available for S60 and Windows Mobile 5 it will later become available for other platforms. It is the same solution that is found in the Nokia N95. Mapping and route planning will be available free, but turn by turn voice navigation will be a premium service. Location is via any Bluetooth GPS. The download will be available from this Saturday.

To import and encrypt media file go to the Options menu and choose Import command. To return the file to the original location use Options > Return command. In its simplest form, a unit test can be non-UI executable, where the exit code is used to decide whether the test succeeded or not. The executable can be implemented to run one or more tests. When there are many tests it is easier to create frameworks, which will automatically create an environment for the test, and then execute the small test piece and report results. These kinds of frameworks are called test frameworks.

EUnit is a an example of a commercial solution, whereas SymbianOSUnit is available at no cost. In this section, SymbianOSUnit is used for demonstrating purposes due to its free availability. For large-scale development, commercial solutions are recommended because they provide features (see, for example, EUnit key features) that require time and money when implemented from scratch.

In this section, the S60 Platform: Location Example is extended with tests for demonstrating purposes. In real life, unit tests should be written during the development stage of the project, before concrete classes are implemented. Unit tests are created for class CMapExampleSmsEngine
